Welcome to the Department of Education Schools Directory
This directory allows you to search for information about State schools, Non-state schools and Department of Education (DoE) Organisational units within Queensland.
Non-state schools are schools that are not administered by the government and are affiliated with Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) or Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ). Boarding schools fit within this category. The Non-State Schools Accreditation Board's DirectoryGo to Non-State Schools Accreditation Board's Directory page provides additional information about non-state schools.
A link for the Early Childhood website is also available on the Home screen.
The directory includes information about Schools that are ‘Open’, as well as some limited information about schools that are ‘Approved Future Centres’. Note that state schools that have ‘Closed’ are not included, but a link to the Register of Recent School Openings, Closures and Name Changes is included on the Home screen.
For departmental staff, an option is available in the footer of the page to view the public facing site of the Schools Directory (external site). This can be helpful when assisting external customers with enquiries, as some information is only available to internal users (e.g. Principal email address and school facility maps).
Searching For Schools and Centres
There are four tabs on the Home page:
- State schools
- Non-state schools
- All schools and education centres (includes all state, non-state schools and their associated units) and
- Organisational units.
Each tab has a Basic Search screen with a search bar and filters to help you refine your search:
- The search bar lets you search on complete or partial centre names, addresses, suburbs, towns and cities etc. Searches are not case sensitive, you can use upper or lower case, or any combination.
- Region drop-down.
- School Type drop-down.
- Include Campuses check box, to include campuses.
- Include Approved Future Centres check box, to include approved centres that are yet to be opened.
- Affiliation drop-down, specific for non-state schools.
- Boarding Schools Only check box, to return non-state schools that provide boarding.
Any search criteria can be used in conjunction or independently from one another.
Use Reset to clear the displayed search criteria and return the screen to the default view.
If you do not select any search criteria, a list of all open state schools and/or centres in Queensland will be displayed.
Advanced Search
Additional search criteria are available on the Advanced Search page which can be accessed via the tab on the top of the Home screen or the link provided on the page.
The same search criteria in the Basic search pages are also available here. Additional drop-down options are available to further refine your search: Open Centres (set as default), Types of Centres (SS, SHS, Campus, NSS etc…), School Characteristics (flags used to identify programs or details to identify groups of schools), Alternative Education Programs, Education Region, Statistical Area level 2, Remoteness Area, Local Government Area, State Electorate, Federal Electorate, School Level Codes and Total Enrolment (from and to).
While the Basic Search only allows for single selection of the drop-down options, in the Advanced Search page multiple selections can be made in each drop-down.
Map Search
You can search for schools and centres on the map on the right side of the Home page. Users can also click on clusters of schools to get a closer look at those clusters. Clicking on an individual school on the results section, will display a highlighted area on the map which is the school’s catchment area. Zooming in further on the map will also allow users to click on catchment areas or individual schools.
The information icon on the map displays a legend to better understand the map. Additional map selections are also available on the top right corner of the map to further assist with searching (State, Federal Electorates and Education Regions).
Download
A download of schools’ information (Centre Profile) is also available and includes contact and geographic details about a centre (including full time enrolments for both state and non-state schools).
This can be run by either searching for a single or group of schools and then selecting the Download option at the top of the results screen. The results are exported to text or CVS (according to the format type selected).
Search Result
The search results are returned as a list of centres on the left of the screen. Basic details about the centre are displayed.
Further information about the school can be accessed by selecting More Details. You can also select Get directions to access the Google maps direction service, and Report incorrect information to report any information that may be incorrect about a centre.
